A Historic Area Assessment would result in the production of a report which concludes on the heritage value of an area. This is sometimes referred to as a Historic Character Appraisal.
The assessment would describe character of a place with a focus on its history and heritage and define its significance. The report would provide an evidence base and useful information in relation to the management of historic environment, including identifying opportunities for positive change.
This type of work can be undertaken on behalf of Local Authorities for their own evidence base or consideration of application or is useful to be undertaken as part of a major or significant development within an area which is likely to have heritage and listed building considerations.
