A landscape Assessment (LA) is a more basic landscape assessment when compared to a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA). A Landscape Assessment reports provides an assessment of the site within the context of the surrounding area.
Our reports provide a thorough desktop study of the existing condition of the landscape, including topography, vegetation cover, land uses, site visibility, landscape character and other relevant designations. The existing condition (often referred to as baseline condition) and what the impact of the proposed development are assessed in terms of landscape impact, suggested mitigation treatment such as landscaping are also taken into account and recommended in order to minimise the visual impact of the proposal.
If impacts are identified we will provide recommendations to hopefully mitigate the proposal to an acceptable level. These recommendations often also provide biodiversity and landscape enhancements, and assist the proposal in meeting the National Planning Policy Framework and Local Planning Policy requirements.
