Rural and Countryside

Many people believe that you cannot build or develop within rural or countryside areas.  This is simply not true and there are a number of different developments that are acceptable and suitable in these types of locations.

In addition to the normal types of development that are acceptable within the countryside, it is also possible to obtain permission for commercial and residential developments in countryside locations where there is a lack of housing within the local area. We have specialist expertise in terms of justifying residential, commercial and all types of development within the rural and countryside areas.

The typical types of projects we deal with are:

  • Justification of housing developments within the countryside (outside the development boundary)
  • ‘Paragraph 55’ housing, which allows single dwelling projects within the countryside if they are of exceptional quality
  • Nature and conservation developments and enhancement schemes
  • Land assessment and rural land use
  • Solar, wind and other renewable energy projects
  • Farm shops, Rural Businesses and developments
  • Agricultural dwellings and developments
  • Holiday and tourism accommodation
  • Storage Units
  • Community Facilities
