Affordable Housing Development – 40 dwelling secured planning.

This sustainable development with affordable housing options tackled the rural housing crisis within the vicinity at the time – to help the local council achieve the governments clear drive for provision of sustainable rural housing.

Full planning permission was secured for this amended scheme for 40 detached dwellings with open space and landscaping.  It was sensitively designed to stay in keeping with the village character and the wider local area.  The village was recently elevated to a Local Service Centre within the emerging local plan with local bus routes, village amenities and shops etc.  The site laid just outside of the settlement boundary but was immediately adjacent on 3 sides.

It was considered the local council were unable to demonstrate a 5 year housing land supply and that relevant policies were out of date, and therefore there should be a presumption in favour of sustainable development, because there weren’t any significant impacts that outweighed this proposal in terms of providing further housing in a sustainable and viable location.
