A Historic Building Record is a recording of a historic building prior to alterations or demolition. It is usually required as a Planning Condition by the local council in order to secure approval for development, but may also be carried out prior to Planning Applications.

Our Principal Heritage Consultant provided a Historic Building Record Level 2 for a Grade II listed building in nr Kings Lynn, West Norfolk, to complement a planning application for the renovation, alteration, and extension of the building. The aim and objective were to compile an adequate and high quality photographic and descriptive record of the structure in its current state before alterations. It was likely that the works will affect the significance of the heritage asset, therefore a recording of that asset before any demolition or alterations take place was essential.

The interior retains a significant amount of historic finishes, fixtures and fittings including a range of early wallpapers as shown in the pictures below.
