Principal Planning Manager

James Tipping heads up the Cambridgeshire Office as Principal Planning Manager and works in collaboration with the wider team.

James has over 16 years experience working as a Planning Consultant within the public and private sector.  His private sector experience includes working for planning consultancy firms, Carter Jonas and Barton Willmore based in their Cambridge Offices. James has worked on a wide range of planning application projects across the East of England and London – including Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.

His public sector experience as an innovative planning consultant includes working for:

  • The Greater Cambridgeshire Shared Planning Service (Including Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire areas)
  • Cambridgeshire County Council
  • East Cambridgeshire Council
  • Breckland District Council
  • Environment Agency

Since starting his career, James has dealt with a breadth of planning projects including:

  • Strategic planning consultant on residential site promotions
  • Major and minor residential planning applications
  • Major commercial projects
  • Changes of uses
  • Lawful development certificates
  • Permitted development and prior approvals
  • Local plan representations
  • Successful Planning appeals, including Inquiries and written representations
  • Minerals and waste planning consultant services.

James and his team can bring expertise to a various major and minor developments across a wide range of different sectors including; residential, commercial, mixed use, agricultural, leisure and tourism.

Life outside Parker Planning Services

James enjoys spending time with his family, and when the opportunity arises, getting out on his bike and running.
