West Suffolk Council failing in their duty!
(Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015)
The Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Act 2015 (as amended) requires West Suffolk (and other Authorities) to give suitable development permission to enough suitable serviced plots of land to meet the demand for self-build and custom housebuilding in their area. The level of demand is established by reference to the number of entries added to an Authority’s register during a base period. West Suffolk Council are failing in their duty to meet this demand!
What does this mean for you?
Quite simply, if you’ve ever dreamed of designing and possibly building your own home in West Suffolk, there may be no better time to apply for planning permission. The fact that West Suffolk are failing to meet demand will weigh heavily in favour of your proposal in the ‘planning balance’ even in locations where the ‘normal’ planning rules and regulations (policies) would prevent the building of a new home.
